Year 10 Babcock Visit

Due to the success of the schools last trip to Babcock, this term a different group of year 10 Students were invited to visit Babcock at HMNB Devonport.
The day was an opportunity for them to visit Babcock, explore Babcock career’s and meet with apprentices and graduates from various backgrounds who are on different career paths within the organisation.

As well as visiting the Combined Weapons Equipment Workshop again, students were given a tour of HMS Courageous, a decommissioned Submarine that was commissioned into the Royal Navy in 1971 and notably served in the Falklands conflict in 1982. It was an opportunity for students to learn how submarines work and what conditions would have been like for submariners on board for months at a time.

They also had a careers talk from Babcock Early Careers and were fortunate to meet with Captain Preece (Captain of the Base) and discuss how the Royal Navy works within HMNB Devonport.

The students were yet again brilliant and a credit to the school. It was a great opportunity for them to visit the site, engage with Babcock employee’s and discuss careers at Babcock.
