At Sir John Hunt, we believe that a seamless transition into secondary education is key to ensuring students feel confident and excited about the next stage of their academic journey. This year, we have taken proactive steps to make this transition even smoother by starting the process earlier than ever before.
Recognising the importance of familiarity and comfort, we have worked closely with our local primary schools to offer Year 5 students an early introduction to life at Sir John Hunt. Over the past term, we have welcomed pupils from a range of primary schools to experience our College, meet our staff, and engage in a variety of activities designed to inspire and excite them about their future learning opportunities.
Through these visits, students have had the opportunity to explore our state-of-the-art facilities, participate in interactive lessons, and build relationships with their future teachers and peers. By immersing themselves in the College setting at an earlier stage, they are developing a sense of belonging and confidence that will serve them well as they prepare for the move to secondary school.
We are proud to have initiated this extended transition period, as it allows us to support each child’s individual needs and ensure they feel at home in our learning community. By laying the foundations now, we are setting our future students up for success and fostering an environment where they can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
As we continue to welcome more Year 5 pupils in the coming months, we look forward to seeing their excitement grow and their confidence flourish. Sir John Hunt is committed to making every child’s transition into secondary school a positive and enriching experience.
