SuperKids at Princess Yachts

On Wednesday 5th October a group of Year 10’s were lucky enough to be invited to Princess Yachts for an apprentice experience.

The students experienced skills which carpenter and engineering apprentices learn in their first year. In particular they learnt about the benefits of using anodes on boats and how they are an essential part of protecting underwater metals from galvanic corrosion. There was even some friendly competition, to see who could safely secure a set of anodes to a hull of a ship in the fastest time!

One of the highlights was a trip to the factory floor, to see one of the yachts in the very first stages of being built. It was huge and gave them perspective of how much work and skill goes into building a super yacht!

Overall it was a great experience for the students and has got some of them talking about work experience and applying for an apprenticeship with Princess Yachts.
