Music Mindfulness

Everyone has the ability to respond to music, and music therapy uses this connection to facilitate positive changes in emotional wellbeing and communication through the engagement in live musical interaction. Summit students have had the opportunity to access a variety of musical instruments and software, to use as a potential coping mechanism if feeling overwhelmed.

Our Summit students have been accessing music therapy sessions every Friday with Mr Cleverly and Miss Pertiller, where they have aimed to develop communication skills, self-confidence, concentration and attention skills.

Summit student Jacob said, "I love music therapy for the variety of choice and I feel happy that I have achieved something. I have now found an instrument that I believe is me".

A big thank you for Mr Cleverly and Miss Pertiller for taking the time to offer these sessions.
