Charity Showcase!

On Friday the 17th of March, the music department put together an after school show to raise money for charity. The audience was made up of a variety of different year groups, as well as members of staff and sixth formers who had all donated praise points and money to be able to attend. The hall was packed as our students gathered in anticipation to listen to some exceptional music performances.

After Year 9 student Sonny began the night with a guitar mashup, Oscar, Skye, Caitlyn, Amelia and Ro performed ‘I Wanna Be Yours’ by the Arctic Monkeys. It was followed by Ruby performing ‘Cardigan’ by Taylor Swift. Year 11 student Ruby sung 'Foundations’ by Kate Nash with Kai, Harry and Chloe following this with 'Smells Like Teen Spirit’ by Nirvana.

A Year 12 student, Kiera performed Aretha Franklin's ‘Respect’ with Lexi joining her on ‘River Deep, Mountain High’ by Tina Turner. After this, Lexi and Megan performed 'Valerie’ by Amy Winehouse and 'Fade Into You' by Mazzy Star. Year 12 students Blake, Ashleigh, and Tallulah ended the showcase with performances of 'Friends' by Chase Atlantic, 'Rolling in the Deep' by Adele, and 'Runaway Baby' by Bruno Mars.

Without exception, our bands did not disappoint as they showcased the vast depth and talent of our music students. A huge thank you to Mr Walker for playing drums and bass for the students and Mr Cleverley, who backed up the students on different instruments, as well as organising and promoting the event.

Well done to all that participated!
