3 Peaks Challenge

A team of 8 Sir John Hunt staff recently completed the National 3 Peaks Challenge. The team were made up of a mixture of teachers and support staff who managed to drive from Plymouth to Ben Nevis and complete the challenge in under 2 days.

The challenge involves attempting to climb the 3 highest peaks in England, Scotland and Wales - Scafell Pike, Ben Nevis & Snowdon.  The total walking distance was 23 miles (37km) and the total ascent is 3064 metres (10,052ft). The road trip, travelling to and from Plymouth is an additional challenge, with the team driving over 1400 miles!

Team SJH started climbing Ben Nevis on Saturday 4th May at 6am, Scafell Pike (a night climb) at 8pm that evening and Snowdon on Sunday 5th May at 7am.

Primarily this was a personal challenge for each team member, however we were also raising funds for the Motor Neurone Disease Association (MNDA), supporting the ongoing campaign to raise £1M started by Simon Adams who was a popular head teacher in Plymouth, an avid rugby player, extreme skier and everybody’s friend.
