We want students to leave Sir John Hunt with the knowledge and ability to eat healthily. We will teach them to make healthy choices when preparing food, as well as enabling them to prepare the food safely. They will leave with the skills required to be able to feed themselves well throughout their lives and understand how they can prepare their own meals at home from a range of recipes.
As the National Curriculum states:
As part of their work with food, pupils should be taught how to cook and apply the principles of nutrition and healthy eating. Instilling a love of cooking in pupils will also open a door to one of the great expressions of human creativity. Learning how to cook is a crucial life skill that enables pupils to feed themselves and others affordably and well, now and in later life.
