Key Stage 3

Course Overview

Through the Key Stage, we travel around the world studying Africa, China, India, The Middle East and Russia. We look at UK and the features that make it our home. Rivers, Coasts and Glaciation topics give pupils an opportunity to study the processes that have shaped our world, while looking at our impacts on, and management of, these amazing landscapes. World Biomes, Weather and Climate and Natural Hazards are studied alongside whole world issues of Climate Change, Extreme Poverty and Food, Water Shortages. We look at these issues across the world and how these issues can be managed. Fieldwork is an important part of the course and pupils will have an opportunity to study this alongside Geographical information Systems.

Assessment

Assessments will follow each of the Key Stage three topics and inform students’ grades at the College 12 week assessment cycle. The overall grade given to students will be an average of these topic assessment grades. Teachers will identify gaps in students’ learning and, through effective feedback, students can resolve misconceptions and swiftly develop further knowledge and skills.
