For the first time in a long time Sir John Hunt are running a residential football week in values week for year 8 & year 9 students who play for the school football team which will centre all around high performance in football.
The first 3 days of the trip will be spent on a residential in Manchester where the students will experience what it is like to stay away from home like professional players must for away games. We will take in the national football history museum and learn about the history of our beautiful game as well as watching a pre season football game whilst we are up there. A tour around Manchester United’s stadium also awaits as well plus many more team building activities throughout the first 3 days of the week.
The final 2 days of values week will see us return to SJH and take part in practical elements of football performance. Students will learn about what healthy fuel for football matches looks like and practice cooking these meals. They will also learn about what is important about recovering after football matches and training as well as how to prevent injuries from happening – including taking part in a yoga session!
Practical training will form part of the final two days of the trip and we are hopeful to organise a fixture for the students to play in as well. This week should form a good all round experience for any school team players who are eager to experience a professional football experience for 5 days to end the school year!!
