At Sir John Hunt CSC, students can study for a diverse range of qualifications which includes A Levels, Level 3 courses and Diplomas as well as work related courses in a variety of work areas through courses with linked training providers across the city.

The qualifications students gain with us will enable them to develop a career or join a University or College of Higher Education, to progress to Higher Level apprenticeships, training or full time employment.

There are over 40 different A Level and Level 3 equivalent courses to choose from, as well as a broad and balanced work related learning pathway. You can choose from Physics, Literature and Art to Hair and Beauty, Public Services and Performing Arts.

Sixth Form students also have the opportunity to be involved in a wide range of Enrichment activities, trips and events to support their preparation for future training and careers.

All external applicants and Year 11 students are interviewed by a member of the Sixth Form team - parents are encouraged and welcome to attend these meetings - to find out more about opportunities that exist within our Sixth Form and the pathways open to  Sixth Form students.

Students in the Sixth Form follow a highly structured full-time timetable and receive regular information about how they are progressing and what they need to do to ensure they are fulfilling their potential every term.

Sixth Form tutors are a student's first point of contact for any of their concerns, although all of the Sixth Form Team are available for students and parents to talk to. Our Sixth Form puts the student at its centre.

If you would like to discuss a place in Sixth form, please contact us to arrange an appointment on 01752 201020 or by using our contact form, and of the Sixth Form team will be happy to help you.

Statement from the Head of Sixth Form

Sixth Form represents a new and exciting stage in your education where you will be able to challenge yourself, find new interests and think carefully about your future. Whilst you will find that sixth form study more demanding than your GCSE subjects, you will also have a huge array of opportunities to learn and to develop new skills and interests.

At Sir John Hunt, we pride ourselves on offering students the advice, support and guidance that they need to make the most of their talents and abilities and to fulfil their aspirations. We work hard for our students and we expect them to take ownership and responsibility for their learning. We listen carefully to our sixth form students so that, together, we can provide an environment where every student can realise their full potential.

We have very high ambitions for our students and each students’ progress is monitored closely at every stage of their course(s). Relationships between staff and students are excellent and are characterised by respect, responsibility and a mutual passion for learning.

We are delighted that you are considering joining us at Sir John Hunt Sixth Form.
Mr J G Dunkerley
