Still....Champions of Plymouth!

After winning our last tournament in December, our brilliant Year 7 and Year 8 teams travelled to Goals Soccer Centre to compete in our Term 3 tournament. After our recent success and reigning champion’s title, the pressure was on for our Year 8 team to again, bring the trophy home.

Our Year 7 team played amazing football, with no sub, everyone had to play every single minute of their 8 games! Reggie made some excellent saves throughout the day, with Captain Scott leading the team up front and finishing top goal scorer for the Year 7 team overall. All the students played with desire and passion, they can hold their heads up with pride, they represented the school brilliantly.

After our Year 8’s previous success in the last tournament, the pressure was on to maintain our 100% win record. The Year 8 team played quick, possession football, with a high press, which was the winning formula which led to the winning of our prior tournament. Olivia was solid in midfield, she provided protection for the defence, but also providing assists for our forwards, as well as getting on the score sheet herself. Toby was top goal scorer and scored a vital last minute goal against St Boniface Year 10 and 11 team!

Our Year 7 team finished 8th in the final league standings, with many teams that they played against much older than them. They finished the day with smiling faces, excited for the next tournament.

Our Year 8 team, finished 1st! winning the tournament by 4 points! Well done to the Year 8 team, who remain, the champions of Plymouth!

A big thanks to Claire from Plymouth School Sports Partnership and also the other schools who come to compete.

We are excited for what we hope will be another successful tournament in March, with hopefully rays of sunshine to greet us.
