Sixth Form Personal Development

This term, Year 12 have enjoyed an induction into KS5 life as well as two sessions from Next Steps South West to get them thinking about their Post-18 options. They’ve had a PD session on email skills to help them with sending professional/formal emails to potential employers/teachers. These sessions take a ‘seminar style’ approach to Personal Development to support the students in any future university studies.

Year 13 have been focussed on finance, looking at the potential dangers of gambling, loan sharks and pay-day loans whilst also looking at good ways to borrow money, including how to boost and protect their credit scores. This is vital now they are turning 18 to ensure they stay financially safe and aware of the risks and dangers of gambling when they reach the legal age. They have enjoyed reading real life examples of people sharing their stories and offering advice and guidance to these scenarios. It has been lovely to see the students getting so engaged with sessions and with the great feedback we have had so far.
