The Sir John Hunt girl’s football club has been run this term by Miss Morgan and Ms Bassett and they’ve been really impressed with the enthusiasm and high level of skill shown by our female players. With over 20 girls attending weekly, the club has been a great success this term, with guest coaches also making an appearance. To provide a role model for our girls we invited the captain of Plymouth Argyle Ladies, Katie Middleton, to run a session for us. She is an excellent role model for our girls and we want to say a big thank you to her for inspiring our players.
In October, the Year 7 and Year 8 girl’s football teams attended the EFL Girls Cup with Miss Morgan and Miss Robinson. Here the girls played in a tournament against 12 other teams, with one of our teams coming runners up! A huge congratulations to the girls for their success and to our Year 8 player who was approached by Argyle to train with them! It was such a positive day and their respect for the other teams was outstanding.
This is just the start of our achievements in girls football, with additional events on the horizon for the future. If you have a daughter who is interested in joining the girl’s football club, it is held in the sports hall on Wednesdays 3:15-4:00.
