FoodSEqual

On Friday 25th November, three of our students, Tyler-Jay, Kieran and Michael were welcomed to a FoodSEqual event run by the University of Plymouth. This was following their involvement with the project in Enrichment Week 2022, where they cooked new foods, caught fish and learnt about sustainability in the food industry.

FoodSEqual is a 5-year project bringing together academic researchers, the food industry, policymakers, charity organisations and disadvantaged communities who work together to tackle food inequalities. It is a great project where they have been doing a lot of work in Whitleigh, even creating a Whitleigh Community Cookbook.

At the event the students showcased their film, ‘Dinner Takes All’ which they starred in and produced. They took questions from stakeholders of the project and they really were the stars of the show, answering maturely and respectfully. They really were a credit to the school. Well done boys!

We will be working with FoodSEqual in the future, and really hope to enhance our relationship with them to enable open conversations about food, and give our students the skills to cook healthy meals for themselves and their families.
