Engineering4Inclusion

A group of Year 10 students attended Engineering4Inclusion run by the University of Plymouth, aimed at promoting diversity and accessibility in engineering and STEM careers. Through team-based activities, students developed problem-solving and critical thinking skills, applying engineering concepts in real-time scenarios. It also offered a glimpse into university life, inspiring students to consider future pathways in higher education and careers in engineering. Highlights included meeting Pepper a humanoid robot, designed for interactive human engagement and equipped with speech recognition modules, exploring the composites lab and learning how F1 racing cars are made, and working as a team to create a T-Shirt for a company that was inclusive and stood for what they value (in a hour so was very impressive!)

At the end of the week, they had to do a presentation on what they had learnt, and I was so proud of them for getting up and presenting in a room full of adults and their peers.

Special thanks to the University of Plymouth for providing this opportunity for our students.
