Our students have recently been applying their knowledge of democracy to choose a charity for the College to support this year. The plans initially started back in July, where students were able to nominate charities to be considered and has culminated in Cancer Research UK being chosen for us to support.
This charity was originally proposed by Maddy Stanton in Year 10. During the Drop Down Day, students learnt about each charity whilst improving their reading and comprehension skills. They chose which charity they wanted to vote for, justifying reasons for their choice. Each tutor group then held a vote, and Cancer Research UK won by an overwhelming amount.
We are looking forward to seeing what ideas our students come up with for some fundraising. Our Council Reps will be able to bring their tutor groups ideas to the council meetings, where they will get to plan some events.
