A Flying Visit For Science

On Friday 9th of July we had the pleasure of welcoming the Army Air Corps, along with a gazelle helicopter, to the College to run STEM activities for our Year 9, 10 and Sixth Form students.

Students were shown the ins and outs of the helicopter and were able to operate the controls to find out how the helicopter manoeuvres. They also completed some problem solving and leadership activities, with some students enjoying the chance to take charge!

Our visitors were very complimentary of the students’ engagement and participation, and were happy to answer all questions regarding the helicopter and careers in the forces.

Many thanks to Miss Newberry for her help organising the day and to the rest of the Science department for their support. We look forward to hosting more events next academic year!
