At Sir John Hunt Child Development is an ideal qualification for those students who want a broad background in child care or are considering a career in the care profession. Examples of employment which a qualification in this subject might lead to include:
- Nursery nursing
- Social work
- Care assistant work
- Working with children
- Becoming a nurse
- The course structure is:
Unit 1 – Internal Assessment: Students will understand the equipment and nutritional needs of children from birth to 5 years and they will understand the development of children from birth up to 5 years.
Unit 2 – Written Examination: This module is worth 50% and assessed by a one hour and fifteen minute exam – in year 11.
Within Child Development we aim to develop the students’ skills base so that it is broad and varied and we provide students with the opportunity to experience child care in different settings.
