Online careers help for students and parents

Website available to help support Plymouth students explore career choices

A special website has been created to help all students find jobs amid the ongoing economic crisis caused by the coronavirus pandemic lockdown.

As young people prepare to receive their A-level and GCSE results, Plymouth City Council, working in a city-wide partnership, has set up Skills Launchpad Plymouth as a virtual and free “one-stop-shop skills service”.

It's aim is to help people stay informed so they can equip themselves with the skills and confidence they will need in a challenging jobs market as the UK falls into recession and firms prepare to make redundancies.

The website targets support for young people through a Youth Hub, and supports those facing redundancy through an Adult Hub.

With so much uncertainty surrounding grades, jobs and employment at the moment, the council said it understandable that this could be causing some anxiety or confusion for teenagers and their parents.

So the intention is to help people to build the skills employers need today and in the future to fill jobs.

Skills Launchpad is a one-stop-shop for all who are considering their next move.
